Baseball Glove Rental

Making baseball easier to start,
and easier to keep playing.

Tunagura is a rental service for baseball gloves in Japan. Gloves and mitts for hardball, rubber-ball baseball, and softball are available from 550 yen per month (tax included).

The name combines the Japanese words for "connect" (tsunagu) and "glove": we take gloves that families no longer use, restore them, and pass them on to the next player who needs one.

Why

Why rent a glove?

Fewer children in Japan are playing baseball, and one reason is the cost of equipment. Paying hundreds of dollars up front for a sport a child may not continue is a hard decision for parents, and gloves need replacing as children grow or change positions.

Our CEO heard this again and again from parents at his baseball clinics. A concern raised that often on the ground is a problem worth solving, and Tunagura is our answer.

Features

Three options

Return it when you're done

Rent a glove only for as long as you need it, then send it back. It is an easy way to start before you know whether baseball will stick.

Exchange it when it no longer fits

If you grow or change positions, switch to a different glove instead of buying a new one.

Buy it if you love it

A glove that has molded to your hand can be purchased outright, so you decide after you have used it.

Sustainability

Used × restored × rented

Many homes in Japan have gloves that are no longer used but still perfectly usable. Tunagura collects and restores them and rents them out, so that anyone can get a glove when they need one, at an affordable price.

Keeping usable equipment in use is also a way of circulating resources. Alongside rentals, we sell restored used gloves.
